Our third Industry Takeover is fast approaching this March. This month we’ll be giving our full attention to building a fan base through your own socials and music media. We’ll analyse how and what social media, and other digital tools, are vital for capturing and growing your fan base. We’ll answer key questions like; how do you get the most out of them on a limited budget? At what stage should you start reaching out to magazines, radio and how is the most reliable way to get their support? We'll be joined by CMU's Chris Cooke, who will be hosting the event, with guest speakers: Afryea Henry-Fontaine (Virgin EMI), Jennifer Quigley-Jones (Youtube) and Saquib B (GRM Daily).

Chris Cooke – Co-Founder & Editor, CMU.
Chris is MD and Business Editor of CMU and will be hosting Industry Takeover’s series of monthly music seminars. Chris writes for CMU’s media, co-hosts the podcast, curates and presents CMU Insights @ The Great Escape. He leads the company’s education programme, consultancy business and regularly writes, discusses and comments on media law, music and communication industries. He also authored the report ‘Dissecting The Digital Dollar’ for the UK’s Music Managers Forum.

Afryea Henry-Fontaine - Marketing Manager, Virgin EMI.
Afryea is a multi-talented executive with over 10 years’ experience within the music and entertainment industries. Her career has spanned a variety of aspects of the industry including; management, brand consultancy, project and event management as well as marketing. With a vast network, Afryea has worked with some iconic brands including MOBO, Puma, BET and Russell Simmons’ RUSH Communications to name a few and has always had a passion for pushing the boundaries of success for urban talent. Afryea is a Marketing Manager at number 1 label in the UK – Virgin EMI and has been at the helm of some of the major campaigns over the last few years including Meridian Dan – German Whip, Lethal Bizzle’s Fester Skank and Krept & Konan’s #2 album release of The Long Way Home last year. Afryea manages a varied roster of dance, pop and urban including the aforementioned artists as well as Lil Yachty, Tory Lanez, Ella Eyre, Sinead Harnett, Seinabo Sey and new Def Jam signing JAHKOY.

Saquib B - Video A&R, GRM Daily.
Saquib is the Video A&R at GRM Daily where he works on getting the best music videos for their premium YouTube channel. His refined skill set landed him a seat on the senior management team which concentrates on expanding the business. Aside from his work with GRM, Saquib also owns a social agency that handles the accounts of Disturbing London, Naughty Boy, Emeli Sande & more.

Jennifer Quigley-Jones - Partner Manager, Youtube.
Jennifer has worked at YouTube for the past year and a half. She works with brands, labels, creators and musicians to develop digital strategies and educates them on using the platform. Before this, she specialised in the Middle East - receiving a Kennedy Scholarship to complete her Master's degree at Harvard University.
