Check out the interview in full here…

Hi Harley, thanks so much for talking with me. Please introduce yourself for our readers

Hey wassup! Well I've been around for a minute and have had the chance to work with some amazingly talented people so far (N Dubz, Shanks, Bigfoot). My name is Harley Nixon and I'm a singer-songwriter from London.

When did you first start getting into music as a singer-songwriter?

I started singing at the age of sixteen. It was something I always wanted to do. I never had a voice as a teen, I was always quite quiet until I found music as a form of expression.

If someone was to ask what kind of music Harley Nixon offers people, how would you describe it?

I would say put Justin Timberlake, Labrinth and Will i Am in a pot, throw in some sprinkles and a little coco pops and pop! You have me!

Who are some of your biggest musical inspirations in the game, past or present?

Will i Am, Parker and Taio Cruz – three very different and amazing artists, songwriters and producers.

It wasn’t too long ago that you entered our
#IndustryTakeover competition and were selected as one of our finalists. A big congrats to you for earning yourself a top ten spot! How did it feel?

To be honest I was a bit shocked as I really didn't expect that I would be picked. I entered as I didn't wanna regret not entering but it was an amazing feeling. Even though I never won it was still an honor to be recognized.

You entered the competition with a snippet to one of your songs entitled
Go Back. Tell us a little about the track. How did it come together?

Well Go Back was originally a Lily Allen track that I heard and thought I need to write to. Go Back is just a feel good song just about the crazy things I wish I could do with my imaginary friends and imaginary journeys (laughs).

As a songwriter, what is it that usually inspires you to put pen to paper and create a song?

I'm inspired to write by so many different things. Anything can be turned into a story, that's the beauty of music. People, places, things and just general life experiences.

Of course that was just a snippet of one of your tracks. Can we look forward to hearing more original music from you this year? Any projects or plans in the pipeline that we can look forward to?

Yup at the moment I’m just looking for people to work with and I’m also working on some new material at the moment which I'm excited to start performing and letting people hear.

Just a few quick fire questions now to round things up: if you had the chance to bring back one artist from the grave to perform/work with, who would it be and why?

I think it would be Michael Jackson. He is an incredible, amazing writer and performer with a creative work ethic beyond any I have seen. He could teach me a lot and a show with him would be dope! Plus I wanna know how to moonwalk (laughs).

If you had the chance to collaborate with any UK
artist of your choice right now, who would it be?

Who would I work with…it would have to be Angel he is an amazing producer /writer and an amazing vocalist.

If you could leave your audience with one word, thought or feeling after a live show, what would you like it to be?

One thing people would be surprised to know about you is…

I have an imaginary friend

Sometimes you wish people would…

I wish everyone loved chips and cheese like I do (laughs)
