In January 2016 Urban Development began an ambitious and exciting project, funded by Arts Council and Youth Music, which aims to increase opportunities for young people to develop their musical skills - with a focus on commercial and urban music. Urban Artist School Academy returns for February half-term for 13-17-year-olds.

After a series of workshops and events in schools across the country throughout the year. In August we held intense week-long projects with partners in Derby, Manchester, and Bristol as well as a two-week intensive course at Urban Development in London. The London Urban Artist School Summer Academy brought together talented young artists from across the city to experience two weeks of song-writing, producing and recording which was all captured in a great short film above.
This year our work will expand to include even more engaging projects across the country. We'll begin this journey with a week-long project at Newham Sixth Form College (New VIC) this February.
